    Not Much Happening, So It Must Be Thursday

    • The Michael Waltrip accident story has already received more media coverage than anything not connected with Don Imus the past few days, and is about as interesting which is a way of saying not at all. Still, this note in an AP story about the matter is quite eye-catching:

    The witness, an 18-year-old college student at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, requested anonymity during a phone interview Wednesday with The Associated Press for fear of reprisal from Waltrip’s fan base.

    Either the young woman is a touch on the paranoid side, or she’s read enough tales about and by obsessed, lifeless NASCAR fans who gather together for gossip and drool and pathetic fantasies fueled by rumor and rumormongers to know the lunatic fringe of the sport’s fan base is one best steered clear of. The other possibility is that Mikey’s fans are way more aggressive than previously noted…
